I started Embrace Happy after spending about two months doing the 3 Good Things challenge. I was sharing my #3goodthings every day through my social media channels and a few people became interested in what I was doing. A few people started joining in with #3goodthings as well. This made me happy. I realised that happiness is all around us but sometimes we have a hard time seeing it.
On Wednesday I challenged the Embrace Happy Facebook group to celebrate the little things that we have all around us. I encouraged them to look at their garden/their favourite happy place in the house/their school run in a different light. I encouraged them to “stop and smell the roses” effectively and find the good in the smallest things. I highlighted our school run with the collage above. I loved looking at our school run with a different eye, to breathe in the (thankfully) warm breeze, smell the lingering scent of cut grass and fading lilacs, feel the sunshine warm on my back and smile. As a result, quite coincidentally, our school run and hours following were stress free. I was relaxed and happy which meant that Ella and Sam were relaxed and happy. When we returned home after Ella’s dance lesson after school, they both went into the garden and played happily together which allowed me to get on with dinner. It was a great afternoon, simply because I made the conscious choice to slow down and appreciate the little things.
