Live It! 2


It’s February. You’ve (hopefully) been joining in with Embrace Happy and practising fairly regularly your #3goodthings and are feeling a teeny bit more positive in general. But when it comes right down to it, you’re not LIVING IT! You’re trying to Embrace Happy, making an effort to look at the good things in your life and appreciate them, you’re grateful for people, things and opportunities but when it comes right down to it, you aren’t truly living it. Maybe you even feel a little bit of a fraud! Trying to let the sunshine in but those rays haven’t fully penetrated the darker spaces in you and you’re not quite there yet.

Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. Embracing Happy is a choice. You are choosing happiness because it is good for you, for your health, for your family. I firmly believe that with Happiness, (to steal a quote from Star Wars & Yoda) “Do or Do Not, there is no Try”. Yes, the initial baby steps toward embracing happy are tentative and wobbly but when you fully commit in your heart and in your head, embracing happy is exactly the right choice and it will feel right for you. Changing the habits of a lifetime when you have generally always been a “glass half-empty” kind of person is difficult. Properly difficult. There will be days where you feel like saying “Aw, f**k it all!” and dive back under the duvet. There will be days when you revert back to shouting at the children, nagging the OH, wearing your “resting bitch face” everywhere you go and wallowing in your darkness. There will be days where you think “Why the heck should I bother finding #3goodthings today? I only had a moderately good cup of tea today. The rest of the day was complete and total rubbish! Screw Embrace Happy!”

Yes. It happens to the best of us. I have days where I am grumpy, I have moments when I lose my patience and lose control. I have times when I honk my horn in anger, gossip about someone or something, wish that things were different, have a “woe is me” moment. And then I stop. I take a deep breath. I tell myself off. I take a small gratitude check. I redirect. I start over. And you can do this very same thing. Live it! Live Happy. Allow those #3goodthings and Happy moments to raise you up and pull you through. Tell yourself off. Redirect. Start over. It’s NEVER too late in the day to start your day over.

For today, take a leap of faith. Live it! Live Embrace Happy. Don’t just go through the motions. Believe it and you will achieve it. As cheesy as that might sound, it’s so very true. Will you join me? I promise you won’t regret it!
