We were treated to the most glorious sky at sunrise this morning! That’s one positive to winter mornings…you’re usually well awake by the time the sun clears the horizon! That was the last bit of calm this morning, however, as we had to take my car to the next village to a garage for some repair work and by the time we got home, we only had about 30 minutes until we had to have breakfast done and be out the door for the school run. The look on Sam’s face in our School Run Fun picture tells it all really! But thankfully a piggy-back ride from me on the way to school was enough to wash away the grumps. The rest of the work day was busy and mildly manic. I’m thoroughly enjoying the work I am doing but I am looking forward to Mark and his administrative assistant getting settled in the new office soon. It’s lovely to have company in the house but we all need our own space to feel properly efficient. I was able to steal a bit of a break to get our meal planning choice of the day (beef stew) prepped and cooking. I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner! What a difference a meal plan makes!!

I’m loving our Tuesday and Thursday after-school time because neither Ella nor Sam have activities or anywhere to be. We can relax and chill, the kids can play or watch a movie and everyone is so much calmer and laid back. We watched The Lion King and I was able to get a bit of work done “after hours” as well as get dinner on the table by 6pm. This is a bit of a luxury for us and one I hope we’re able to continue once Mark is back to a more normal work schedule. However, what I hoped would result in an early bedtime resulted in a much later bedtime as Ella and Sam didn’t settle well. We’re having some troubles getting them to settle and for now we’re all laying down in our bed and allowing them to fall asleep there and then transfer both of them to their beds later when we come to bed. It’s not ideal but for now, it works. There will be so many years in the not so very distant future when they won’t even want us to look at them much less snuggle with us in bed so I’m not going to rush anything.

Tomorrow I have another busy work from home day and then Ella has Dance after school. I am going to try to go to an Adult Ballet class on Thursday evening and see if my knee holds up….shhhhh, don’t tell Mark!
