Finally, the Christmas Holiday is over. Today was Back to School Day, Back to Work Day and Back to Building a New Business Day for the whole family! We’re off to a very busy start for 2016! I began the day with Day 3 of Yoga with Adriene in the dark in the lounge next to the fire. It’s a rather nice way to start your day. We managed to get out of the door safely this morning although the route to school was rather fraught as Ella and Sam decided that riding their Christmas skateboards to school was an AWESOME idea. Ella got on fine and was gone in a flash. Sam was another story entirely. Suffice it to say, we will not be skateboarding to school again until Sam gets a lot more skateboarding practise. Phew!
After depositing Ella at school and Sammy at preschool, I carried the skateboards home, tidied the kitchen and got the laptops fired up and running for a busy day of work. Mark has started his own business after being made redundant just before Christmas. After 13 years with the company, the Group owner chose to close Mark’s workplace, claiming a duplication of services. As shocking and scary as this was to us, it was the push Mark needed to start up his own business which he has been keen to do for over a year now. Sometimes the universe intervenes when you’re not quite bold enough to listen! I am doing my best to maintain high positivity, keep Mark on track and be his IT support in the process. I know this is going to be a very stressful yet amazing adventure. We just need to remember…NOT EVERY DAY IS GOOD BUT THERE IS GOOD IN EVERY DAY.
While working for my job today, which was so lovely to return to after 2 weeks off, I had some fun ideas and new projects to work on which kept me on track for 6 hours. I love having a focus and purpose. We all do far better when we feel valued. Another massive accomplishment on the day was paying off the final small amount left on my University Student Loan. After 10 years of paying a pretty low repayment, I am now DONE! That means more money in our pocket which is most definitely welcome as our lives change from a financial and security perspective. 10 years is a long time!
After school was thankfully very low key. Ella and Sam both had very positive days and really enjoyed being back in the swing of things. They were both tired though which I hope will translate into a good night’s sleep for all of us! Tomorrow bring more challenges and adventures and I will do my level best to meet them with a smile and a happy heart.
